Amy Lawler

Amy Lawler

Amy is currently serving in our ward at the Nursery Supervisor and a Relief Society activity committee member. Her favorite Hymn is How Great Thou Art and her favorite scripture in 2nd Nephi chapter 4.

She met her husband Jim years before they dated. he was her best friend's older brother. Jim proposed to her in the same place they had their first date, out at Columbia Point (Tri-Cities) under a gorgeous summer night full of stars where they went fishing and talked over a campfire. Unfortunately, that night (her 21st birthday) it was pouring buckets so he ended up actually proposing to her in his car. He had 21 red roses and had built a model of a mountain with a knight rescuing a princess in the clutches of a dragon. Behind them a little door opened into the dragon's lair and that's where her ring was. It even had a working light inside! She thought it was pretty amazing.

They now have 5 kiddos ranging in age from 1-15 named Benjamin, Cora, Samuel, Caleb and Eliza. Some of their favorite family activities include: camping, visiting extended family, and playing board games (They own a TON). They are also very involved in the Scottish Arts community including Highland dancing, the Northwest Junior Pipe Band and learning to play the bagpipes, tenor drum and snare drum.

Amy's personal passion is writing, though she never seems to have the time these days. She also loves creating art specifically sketching. Other hobbies include down-hill skiing (she grew up on the slopes), embroidery, needlepoint, cross-stitching and she recently taught herself to crochet a bit. She can also speak a little French and hopes to one day become fluent.

She can not watch The Princess Bride or Oh Brother Where Art Thou enough times. She also likes watching Grey's Anatomy, the Blacklist and Bob's Burgers. If you're a reading fan she would highly recommend the book series "Way of Kings" by Brian Sanderson (an LDS author).

In Amy's fantasy world her theme song would be "Man, it's So Loud in Here" by They Might be Giants.  She thinks it'd be awesome to be one of Doctor Who's companions because common having unlimited time and space travel? Yes please! She also likes the idea of having super speed or the ability to clone herself so she could get more stuff done.

All joking aside though, Amy defines herself by her faith which she is truly grateful every day. She thinks of it as a gift and is something she cherishes and tries not to take for granted.
