Kimberly Nielsen

Kimberly Nielsen

Kim is currently serving as the CTR 5 teacher in our ward.  She says it is so rewarding to see the children's excitement as they learn.  She has always had a deep love for children, so this is one of her favorite places to serve. Professionally she has worked for Mill Creek Family Eye Center for the past 12 years and looks forward to the day when she can retire and spend time traveling and serve a mission with her husband Chase.

She met Chase in January of 2011 at a singles dance at the Bellevue Stake Center.  Chase noticed her, but was unable to ask her to dance because there wasn't enough time between songs. Luckily he knew the DJ and when she asked if he had danced with everyone he wanted, he pointed towards Kim on the dance floor and said, “I want to dance with her.”  He then explained he needed more time between the songs to give Kim a chance to walk off the dance floor so he could ask her to dance.  The DJ agreed, and with the next break in the music, he grabbed Kim as she was walking off the floor and they started dancing. They were dating soon after.

A few months into their dating, Chase told her he was looking for other opportunities within Boeing and wasn’t sure where it would take him.  He had recently returned from an assignment in South Carolina with Boeing.  Kim prayed hard and is so grateful for Heavenly Father’s love for her.  He knew how she was feeling and that she needed some reassurance. She received a strong witness that she needed to “trust that everything would be ok”.  It was also confirmed to her at a later date that she was going to "marry this man".  Chase proposed in October 2011 at Mukilteo Beach and they were married November 5, 2011.

Family has always been important to Kim and meeting Chase has been one of the best things in her life.  There isn’t anything they don’t enjoy doing together.  They spend time going to plays, concerts and sporting events. Of course, they enjoy every minute they can be together with their kids and grandchildren.  She has been blessed with 5 children.  2 of her children still live at home and are attending the community college.  She also has 4 step-children who have blessed them with 9 grandchildren.  They recently learned that 2 additional grandchildren will be joining the family in October and December!

When she has some time to herself she  enjoys working out, scrapbooking, crafts, baking, and gardening, listening to music and playing the piano.  She hopes to one day learn more about photography and also interior design. She usually likes to stay busy but on the occasion she's in the mood to relax, she enjoys sitting by a pool or on the beach in the warm sunshine, or enjoying a good massage. She's also not one to watch much TV but does like the Voice, Dancing with the Stars and Wheel of Fortune although she mostly watches sporting events with Chase.

Her favorite hymn is, “The Spirit of God”.  She has a special memory of singing this song at the Seattle Temple dedication.  She will never forget how powerful the spirit was and the goosebumps she felt while being in the Celestial Room with the prophet of God, President Spencer W. Kimball.  It was an emotional experience.  Music is a big part of her life, it just brightens every day.

The perfect day for Kim is doing anything with family.  Having quality time together is so important to build those close relationships and make memories that will last forever.
