Ruth Davis

Ruth Davis

Ruth is currently serving in our ward as 2nd counselor in the Relief Society Presidency. Professionally she works for a small company that does large format printing. She sews and does the transferring of the design to the fabric on a huge machine. She has 3 children; Leslie (21), Isaac (20) and McKell (17) and her favorite flower is a Rose which is also her maiden name.

Some of her hobbies include singing, sewing, and quilting. She hopes to one day improve her textile designing. She knows a little already and loves it but thinks it would be so fun to master the skill!
.
She has several movies she can't watch enough but the ones at the top of the list are The Sound of Music, White Christmas and Ever After.

If Ruth won a million dollars she would pay off bills, buy a new car and build a log cabin home up in the mountains. Also a personal chef wouldn't be to shabby. If she could be any fictional character Ruth would choose Mary Poppins because she loves the way she can clean up with a snap.

She draws inspiration from the hymns especially Redeemer of Israel. She loves to sing and this is one of those majestic souring songs that you can sing out. She likes that it speaks of the savior, "we know he is coming to gather his sheep". "But Israel will shortly be free". And "the hour of redemption is near". These are just a few of the phrases she loves to sing that help give her strength.

Amy Lawler

Amy Lawler

Amy is currently serving in our ward at the Nursery Supervisor and a Relief Society activity committee member. Her favorite Hymn is How Great Thou Art and her favorite scripture in 2nd Nephi chapter 4.

She met her husband Jim years before they dated. he was her best friend's older brother. Jim proposed to her in the same place they had their first date, out at Columbia Point (Tri-Cities) under a gorgeous summer night full of stars where they went fishing and talked over a campfire. Unfortunately, that night (her 21st birthday) it was pouring buckets so he ended up actually proposing to her in his car. He had 21 red roses and had built a model of a mountain with a knight rescuing a princess in the clutches of a dragon. Behind them a little door opened into the dragon's lair and that's where her ring was. It even had a working light inside! She thought it was pretty amazing.

They now have 5 kiddos ranging in age from 1-15 named Benjamin, Cora, Samuel, Caleb and Eliza. Some of their favorite family activities include: camping, visiting extended family, and playing board games (They own a TON). They are also very involved in the Scottish Arts community including Highland dancing, the Northwest Junior Pipe Band and learning to play the bagpipes, tenor drum and snare drum.

Amy's personal passion is writing, though she never seems to have the time these days. She also loves creating art specifically sketching. Other hobbies include down-hill skiing (she grew up on the slopes), embroidery, needlepoint, cross-stitching and she recently taught herself to crochet a bit. She can also speak a little French and hopes to one day become fluent.

She can not watch The Princess Bride or Oh Brother Where Art Thou enough times. She also likes watching Grey's Anatomy, the Blacklist and Bob's Burgers. If you're a reading fan she would highly recommend the book series "Way of Kings" by Brian Sanderson (an LDS author).

In Amy's fantasy world her theme song would be "Man, it's So Loud in Here" by They Might be Giants.  She thinks it'd be awesome to be one of Doctor Who's companions because common having unlimited time and space travel? Yes please! She also likes the idea of having super speed or the ability to clone herself so she could get more stuff done.

All joking aside though, Amy defines herself by her faith which she is truly grateful every day. She thinks of it as a gift and is something she cherishes and tries not to take for granted.

Lisa Fisher

Lisa Fisher

Lisa is currently serving in our ward as the primary pianist which is her favorite calling. She has a B.S. in Horticulture from BYU but is thrilled to claim full time mommy at her job right now.

She met her husband Nic in her BYU student ward. They were both leaders of different FHE groups for Fall semester and then the groups were rearranged for Winter semester. The people in charge of all the groups put Lisa and Nic together as leaders because they liked Lisa's lessons but wanted to play more sports like Nic's group. Lisa and Nic were engaged by the end of that semester and their group never even realized they had started dating.

They now have 5 kids; Nicholas 11, Bennett 9, Charlotte 6, Andrew 3 and Simon 1. Until Simon was born she could claim that she had each of her children in a different state - Utah, Indiana, Florida and Washington

Their favorite things to do as a family are hiking, camping, watching movies/sports, and playing board games. They love birthdays and have a "bite out of the cake" tradition. On your birthday you take one bite out of your birthday cake and cutting around that bite results in an extra large piece for the birthday girl or boy. Not to mention the fun their siblings have trying to push their whole face into the cake. As a side note, this is only done at small family birthday parties and was started on Lisa's side of the family.

Lisa likes eating at Red Robin because of the steak fries and campfire sauce and her favorite flower is a tie between a lily and a rose (she had both in her wedding bouquet). She enjoys, playing the piano and violin, gardening, sewing, reading and baking but when she find 30 minutes of free time she will most likely do nothing, just sit and do absolutely nothing or maybe go to the bathroom all by herself with no kids.

If she won a million dollars Lisa would pay off student loans, buy a house with a large yard for gardening, visit France (especially the gardens at the Palace of Versailles), and put the rest in savings for retirement and her kids missions. And probably hire someone to do her dishes, she'd rather clean the toilet.

Lisa is most grateful for a piano in her home, wonderful kids especially when they help without being asked, and a husband who is always willing to scratch her back or rub her feet.

Monique Jenkins

Monique Jenkins

Monique is currently serving as the 1st councilor in our ward's Young Women's organization.  Professionally she is a server right now but hopes to one day open her own bed and breakfast.

She loves to cook so much she went to culinary school and had a blast. She also enjoys swimming, riding her long board, painting and reading. She thinks the violin is the most beautiful instrument and has a dream of learning to play one day.

When Monique has a little free time she will usually read and would highly recommend the book Stardust by Neil Gaiman. She also likes movies and her favorite is a tie between The Princess Bride and The Labyrinth.

If she won a million dollars she would buy an airplane and pilot lessons. A chauffeur would be great too since traffic makes her crazy. If should could be any fictional character she would choose Jo March from Little Women and also thinks time traveling would be pretty awesome.

Monique met her husband Nathan at institute soon after she moved here. It was her first time in a singles ward (she moved soon after high school) and she was really nervous. She saw Nathan right when she walked in, but he didn't seem to notice her (she found out later that he did!) The following Sunday was fast Sunday and they had a linger-longer after church. She made sure to sit at the same table as him, and found a way into the conversation and voila!! she had him hooked.

They dated for a while before Nathan's mission. Then a couple months after he got back he proposed at one of her favorite places, Disneyland! He had a sign that read "will you marry" and an arrow pointed to him. He held it up when they take your picture on Splash Mountain. She didn't see it until they were off the ride and he knelt down right there! She was shocked, but so happy!

Their favorite thing to do together is play games. They are really into board and card games as well as video games!! They don't have any pets yet, but are hoping to get a puppy in the near future.

To Monique, family is everything. She is so grateful for her large extended family and their closeness to each other; They make everything so much more fun.

Barbara Brodhead

Barbara Brodhead

Barbara is currently serving in our ward as the Wolf Den Leader in the Cub Scout Program. She met her husband James at her first Young Adult Regional Fireside. They saw each other at the Christmas dance. A week or so later and he asked her to dance. They spent the rest of the evening together, and on January 10th he asked her to marry him. They were married on April 18th 1981 in the Seattle Temple.

They are blessed with 8 children and 13 grandchildren with another one on the way. Now that their children are adults and some don't live close, they love to get together whenever they can. They recently had a wonderful family reunion! They rented a vacation house and spent 4 days enjoying each others company. It was great!

Barbara loves roses (but prefers to receive carnations because they last longer), salmon, and the smell of fresh bread, Some of her favorite things to do are exercise, read, bake, sing, and play with her grandchildren. She hopes to one day play the piano and guitar, but doesn't see that happening in the near future.

If Barbara could have any super power in the world she would choose unending energy! It is hard when you start getting older and can't do everything you used to be able to do when you were young! But for now when she has 30 minutes of free time she will usually relax and watch a good chick flick. The Slipper and the Rose is one of her favorites which has a Cinderella type story line.

A perfect day for Barbara would be any day spent with her husband. She think dinner out together is always nice and enjoys a restaurant in Provo called "The Underground" which has great food and a quaint atmosphere. They would have live music and played old silent Charlie Chaplin movies on a big screen.

She loves reading the Book of Mormon every day and has so many favorite hymns it would be impossible for her to choose just one. Barbara is grateful for so many things but most importantly are her family and the protection she knows they receive every day, it is what she prays for.

Clara Thompson

Clara Thompson

Clara in serving in our ward as the CTR 6 Primary teacher and her favorite hymn is Nearer, My God, to Thee. She has a 1 1/2 year old dog named Athena that is a ball of energy. She doesn't have any kids yet, but her and her husband would like at least 3 some day in the future.

Clara likes roses of all colors, they are just so classy and romantic. She also likes green bean casserole and eating at Applebes's. Her hobbies include cake decorating, cooking/baking, reading and writing. She hopes to one day learn how to play the piano and guitar. Her favorite vacation was to Hawaii, it was so beautiful and she loved every minute.

In Clara's imaginary world she has the power of teleportation and her theme song is Eye of the Tiger. If she won a million dollars she would buy some awesome land to build a house on and would hire a chauffeur and someone to unload the dishwasher.

A perfect day for Clara would be spending time with friends and family just having fun together.

Catherine (Allen) Rogers

Catherine (Allen) Rogers

Catherine is serving in our ward as the Relief Society Chorister. It was scary at first because she had never lead music, but she was excited for an opportunity to push herself outside of her comfort zone. She feels she still has room for improvement but is enjoying the time she spends preparing and standing in from of the sisters each Sunday to lead.

Professionally, she is currently working full time as an internal accountant for an electronics business in Lynnwood. However at the end of the year she is hoping to transition to her true passion of helping others as a life coach, motivational speaker, and author.

Some of her favorite things to do with her family would be date nights with her husband at Olive Garden (she loves the seafood fettuccine) or eating at an Asian buffet as a family. She also loves heart-to-heart talks with her teenage children cuddling her younger children or snuggling up to a movie with her husband.

Catherine enjoys Ballroom and swing dancing, ice or roller skating, exercising, hiking, camping, and having friends over for dinner or games, She is always striving to improve herself and read uplifting material. She would highly recommend a book called #Love - A New Generation of Hope which she co-authored under the pen name 'Catherine M. White'

Catherine draws inspiration from the hymns and loves "Because I Have Been Given Much" because no matter her circumstance, the Lord has always provided for her with everything she needed and in turn she loves to share what she has been given to help others in need. Another one close to her heart is "We Thank Thee, Oh God , For a Prophet" because there was a time in her life that she was feeling great despair. She remembers singing this hymn in sacrament meeting at that time. When they got to verse two "When dark clouds of trouble hang o'er us, and threaten our peace to destroy, there is hope smiling brightly before us, and we know that deliv'rance is night" She broke into tears, feeling the weight of her burdens but knowing there was hope ahead.

Catherine is greatful for her knowledge of the gospel, her four children and for the trust the Lord places in her to guide them through their earthly life.
